In the United Kingdom, a robot vacuum cleaner escaped during working hours, scaring hotel employees. BBC reported that the cleaning machine turned up missing on Thursday, giving the Travelodge staff a slip.
The model of the robot vacuum that was involved in the Escape was the iRobot Roomba i3 EVO robot vacuum.
In Orchard Park, Cambridge, it somehow got past the hotel’s front door without being noticed. As a result, the hotel team turned to social media for assistance. The assistant manager wrote in a Reddit post that one of their robot vacuum cleaners ran for its life yesterday, but the post has since been taken down.
The BBC reported that normally the robot vacuums turn around when they detect the lip at the hotel entrance, but this one decided to run, as the post stated.
The vacuum cleaner was later discovered on Friday by hotel employees under a hedge near the hotel’s entrance.
As reported by the media, the hotel says the robot vacuum cleaner machine has been dusted off and is now sitting peacefully on a shelf with the rest of the robot vacuums.
The smart vacuum cleaner has been found but the question still remains unanswered, “was it just a funny incident or was there really something going on the the mind of the robot vacuum.”
